Kick off the charitable season with Giving Tuesday

Today, December 3rd, is GIving Tuesday. In the past 25+ years AWSN has contributed almost $2 million in donations, sponsorship, bursaries, scholarships and support to the Alberta STEM ecosystem - with a focus on underrepresented populations in STEM. Please help us continue this work!

As AWSN wraps up 25 years of STEM advocacy, we urge you to contribute to our future success! Our goal is 250 donations of $25 before the end of 2019.

Donate $100 and receive a pair of Hillberg & Berk Supernova earrings!  Additional pairs of earrings are available with each $75 donation beyond $100.

As we end another successful year, we would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has made a difference to AWSN and our goals in 2019.  We have said goodbye to some valued volunteers and welcomed new team members, received generous corporate donations and immeasurable donations of time and funds from individuals in our greater community.

THANK YOU! You are making a difference.

AWSN will be hosting a holiday gathering in Calgary to engage with our members and volunteers, as well as present annual awards.  Join us December 10th at the Petroleum Club after 6pm in the Devonian Room.  A cash bar will be available, with a short program at 7pm.  Thank you to WinSETT for providing the space. Please let us know if you are able to join us.

In addition to Hillberg & Berk's generous support of AWSN's 25th Anniversary fundraising campaign, they are also partnering with Operation Minerva NSERC grant programs to support industry mentors who volunteer their time with students.

Women in Tech World is launching a virtual community for women who are looking for support in their careers, a fresh perspective or wanting to connect with progressive women. The Collective is a virtual community built by and for women in tech who seek connection and real relationships with industry peers.

December 7 - Find Team Jasmine in Calgary at Round 1 of FIRST Robotics Tech Challenges for Alberta.

January-June 2020: The Canadian Centre for Women in Science, Engineering, Trades and Technology, WinSETT, is bringing their Leadership Workshop Series to Edmonton. Register here.

May 2020 - IndigeSTEAM will be holding their second annual STEM Leadership and Mentors Retreat in May 2020.  Watch the IndigeSTEAM website for more details or e-mail info@indigeSTEAM.ca.
 
Award and Scholarship Opportunities

The Canadian Federation of University Women Edmonton, CFUW, is accepting applications until January 27, 2020 for the 2020 CFUW scholarship for an undergraduate Aboriginal woman attending the University of Alberta.
 
Volunteer Opportunities

BrainSTEM Alliance is looking for STEM professionals to volunteer with youth in science, engineering and entrepreneurship related programs.  Apply online or e-mail info@brainstemalliance.com for more info.
