Ingrid Pederson, 2020 AWSN Athena Outstanding Volunteer Award Recipient

Ingrid Pederson is an engineering specialist focusing on external corrosion prevention to help maintain the integrity of Enbridge’s crude oil pipelines.

Ingrid started her engineering career working on offshore oil rigs. This experience motivated her to encourage young women to pursue STEM careers and when Ingrid moved to Edmonton in 2008 she increased her volunteering with STEM organizations such as Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science & Technology (WISEST), the Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology (CCWESTT), FIRST Lego League and the outreach program at the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Prior to the pandemic shutting everything down Ingrid spent over 400 hours a year volunteering with STEM groups, various festivals, youth leadership programs, Theatre Network and other charities in Edmonton.

Ingrid holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical Engineering from Dalhousie University.
